WTF are we doing here...

All these meetings and talking is giving me a headache. If I don’t find some entertainment soon…well! I will admit that this does seem necessary to the furthering of our cause. And since Malack seems to relish this opportunity so much it keeps me from becoming much more involved than the occasional lie to keep things moving in our favor. I can only hope that once all this talking is done, it will be neccesary for us to help things along with a little more hands on approach.

Brandis,

Trusted aid, I beg for your forgiveness as I skip all formalities and jump right into business.

Our diplomatic mission to the lizardmen of the marsh proved not only successful but beneficial for all. Though simple people, they’re leaders posses the reasoning needed for proper diplomacy. All of our conditions were agreed too by the shamans and elders of the lizardmen of the marsh. The lizardmen of the marsh were wise to except our offer because the alternative would have been nothing short of genocide.

For your record keeping here is a brief list of the terms:

-The able bodied would become royal guards of 5 lords of Hammertooth. Training, pay and prestige will be given to match these positions. The Lizardmen of the marsh are strong and capable. Under the supervision of Morgoroth, I have no doubt that we will have the strongest, most skilled guards within the territory of the 5 cities.

-They entirety of their clan would relocate to the marsh of their forefathers (the marsh just outside of Hammertooth).

-The farmers and herdsmen would sell excess food supplies to the village of Hammertooth. Though slightly low-brow, this food source will provide our village the necessary sustenance to keep everyone happy or, at the very least, alive.

In return, we, the lords of Hammertooth, agreed to:

-Slay the “white menace”, The white menace was the very same dragon that had alluded us once before but in our second encounter, the once formidable foe proved….outclassed. You should have received the carcass by now. Brandis, personally oversee the use of this precious resource.

-Protect the Lizardmen from the wild tribe. This request should be no problem to fulfill due to other developments.

The Lizardmen of the marsh are hereby considered full citizens of Hammertooth and therefore under its complete protection. Make sure that they are treated accordingly and NOT as second class citizens.

The second order of business came as a complete surprise. As we were heading towards Proveenia to attend to our diplomatic duties, we were ambushed by the leaders of the wild tribe. But we weren’t attacked, we were forced to choose a side. One of the leaders represented peace and the other war. In an ironic turn we chose to side ourselves with the peacemakes by killing the leaders of the warmongering faction. The wild tribe will prove to be useful allies. The leaders of the wild tribe are going to meet us at Hammertooth upon our return from Proveenia. Treat them as honored guests until our arrival. We have many things to discuss with them. The wild tribe could prove a valuable army. Potentially swaying the balance of power in our favor.

Once in Proveenia, we were almost immediately pulled aside where we discussed with the Lord Mayor the growing concern of the Wererat population. Why is it that whenever Hammertooth can’t solve a problem they come to us to handle it for them? I’ll tell you why, they are weak and we are strong.

An Account of our investigation into the wererat problem follows:

The Lord Mayor agreed to recognize Hammertooth as long as we found evidence of the wererat problem. We agreed, seeing no other course of action and proceeded to investigate. We made our way to a weakly guarded storefront. In a crafty move, your Tiefling lord decided to put his years of borderline alcoholism to “good” use and drank the lone guardsman into a near coma. This allowed seemless access into a known wererat storefront. Upon further investigation we discovered the only course of action was to push our way into the sewer. The sewer was briming with the enemy and we had to quickly and quietly kill anyone who stumbled upon us in a desperate attempt to stay unnoticed. Luckily, the Strength of the lords of Hammertooth is matched only by my brilliance, thus making the odds 2-1 in our favor.

We did come across an occupied barrack that we had to get through in order to find the evidence we needed. In a tactically perfect manuever, I cast silence upon the room and then I immediately put what few guards were awake to sleep. But strangely some of the guards started to wake up, even the ones that had ABSOLUTELY NO business waking up started…... well, waking up. Anyways, your lord Morgorth proved once again why he garners the respect from me that he does. He courageously followed me through the door only to charge a foe and stab him in the gut. It was truly a horrific site seeing the muted screams of an enemy frantically pawing at his stomach in a futile attempt to keep his innards from spilling upon the ground. The amazing thing was, that wererat not only lived but fought bravely in spite of his crippling injury.

I’ve seen a lot of things in my day but this takes the cake. While fighting in the barracks one of the wererats woke up from both magically induced sleep and natural sleep in a silent room with no provocation. NO PROVOCATION!!!! Then as soon as he opened his eyes he jumped on a hidden button that turned the floor to ice. If we weren’t fighting for our lives and our kingdom, this would have been extremely comical.

Moving forward

Completely drained, we pushed forward in the vain hope of ending this damn Wererat plague. If I didn’t think they were a threat before that last fight I knew that we had to end them as soon as possible. I can’t imagine what other kind of magic they can inexplicably escape the effects of.

We continued down a spiral path that led us to a room where we discovered Baron Motti, bound and gagged, being guarded by some powerful wererat/bears. The battle began on a grim note but took a turn in our favor when your lord’s Revon and Malkore found their footing and poured themselves into every swing and spell. Upon the destruction of the final guards, we discovered that one of the wererats looked like and was possibly Tonth the rep. for Hightower. We escaped the sewer with Baron Motti but have had little time to question him. I believe he is all the evidence we’ll need.

...like water on rocks!

...they are coming! The drow that took Arjhann proved to be as good as his word. Not long after reaching the safety of Hammertooth, we see the underlings of Androso heading towards us. Thankfully the troops that we were promised have arrived and appear to be serious about their business. My peers and I set about directing the soldiers to defend the town that we have just now rebuilt. It would be a shame to lose it so quickly. As the enemy begins to attack the gates, our forces prove resilient and turn the attack away. During their defense, some of our foes manage to gain entry to the town proper and realize the mistake as they are now faced with the task of going through Morgoroth, Malchor, Malak and me. HAHAHAHAHA foolish We take out the minions effortlessly…and I do mean effortlessly, since Malak dropped a tremendous fireball directly on them and wiped them all out. My companions have all become quite powerful and displayed abilities I had not previously seen. As we dispatched this group, another wave attacked the walls and was once again turned away by the defenders of the town. Once again though, a small group was able to get through. This was no doubt made possible by the drow himself joining the battle. Obviously realizing what he was getting himself into, he brought his bodyguard pets with him. Despite underlying unease about what we were about to do, we steeled ourselves and defeated him and his “dogs”. It seems that we were fueled by at least some measure of revenge. Even knowing that Arjhann is still alive, since his throne is still in place, I admit it felt good to steal the life of the one who took him. The days have gone on since the attack, and we await our next challenge. The green dragon we found has produced its first fruit as we were all able to have a piece of armor specially crafted. Things right now are looking good for our group. Despite our different backgrounds, we have proved that we can be quite a force in this land. Now we just have to decide what to do with that. hmmmm…...heh

Arjhann is Gone!
Without their Warlord, the heros learn to fight as four

The Five Lords made their way to the mouth of the caves, back to the Northern Pass to escort Androso home to Hammertooth and to Justice. They were greeted by both sunlight and by one of the winged Clay Scouts from the fortress. After handing a note to Arjhann, he addressed all the lords together.

“Great masters, I have news both good and dangerous. Along the road running from here to our home, bandits have set up several ambushes. I was able to avoid them, but their forces are too strong to be attacked directly by this force here. Last count, there were 4 different banners represented in the ambushes. None of them bore the Wolf Fang’s banner.”

“There is an alternate route that will take extra time to traverse in order to provide a safe return. Fortunately, upon your return, you will find the outer perimeter rebuilt and secure for defense. Brandis had the garrisoned troops fortify the walls, gates, and archer towers surrounding Hammertooth Village. We will be prepared to repel any attack thanks to his preparations.”

Armed with this warning against the threat of multiple bandit gangs forming some sort of army, the Lords set out along a longer route to return. After a sort distance, they noticed the hilltops were crowded with onlookers. They had been found and surrounded quickly. Once they were fully encircled, a frightening looking Drow steppe forward.

“Bring out your leader so I may persuade him. Bring out your master so that mine may be set free.”

Arjhann stepped forward, and despite the Drow’s threats, refused to release Androso. The Drow grew impatient and said “I will make a bargain with you. I will duel your master and if he wins, you may go on your way after giving me Androso. But if I win, I will decimate every community in this valley. Every tenth man will be slain in every settlement large and small. then I will return for Androso. Begin.”

Suddenly, Guards stepped in front of the other 4 Lords, separating them from Arjhann as the duel began. The Drow shot Arjhann with a hand crossbow that he pulled out of nowhere, then quickly sliced him twice with his rapier. Before taking a step in anger, Arjhann fell.

“Very well. I’m off to decimate the valley. If you survive this fight, I’ll return to claim Androso soon” the Drow said as he picked up Arjhann and stole away.

The remaining lords fought the guards feverishly, only defeating them when Arjhann was long out of sight. The made with haste down the path to Hammertooth until, near sunset, one of the Wolf Fangs approached.

“Sir, begging your pardon, but this is an ideal spot to deal with that party that’s giving us chase. We’ve got just enough time to set something up.” Morgoroth stepped forward and blessed the area with a prayer, as pits were dug, mannequin soldiers placed, and hideouts crafted. Tents rigged with magic explosions finished the preparations. The trap was set.

The enemy crept in slowly and probed the camp for resistance. All of a sudden, one by one, they started falling into pit. A quick halfling threw open a tent door only to have it explode in his face. Everyone was staggering about. Everyone except for their commander, who had yet to draw a weapon. Soon the battle was on, and after some effort the villains fell. All but the commander. He proved to be a peerless warrior, and only with the combined might of all four preset was he defeated.

Not stopping to rest, they raced back to Hammertooth.

The Bandit Cave

After fending of a pack of drakes and negotiating a truce with the Wild Tribe, the Five Lords headed to the Northern Pass to rid their land of the Wolf Fangs. Upon entering, they first fought a cave bear and then after venturing into the cavern deeper, they discovered more sentries. Chokers and Darkones attacked from the shadows, but they overcame without too much difficulty. Soon the natural stone gave way to an orderly constructed pathway hewn by dwarves. It widened to allow passage of wagons. they next came to a breach in the path, a long chasm barring their way. Switches on the left held only symbols for their explanation, but before their secret was discovered, the Five Lords were ambushed. Fighting off a larger force of bandits, they managed to work the controls to extend the bridge. After defeating 2 more bandit parties, Arjhann slayed the Wolf Fang’s leader and took charge of the remaining bandits. Ted, the second in command, told them about a horrid ad terrible foe in their custody: Androso.

How they got here

A band of 5 misfit adventurers impressed the regional governments so much with their deeds (both maligned and beneficial), that they were charged to reclaim a long abandoned and dangerous fortress. Through strength of arms and wit, they took their new rank and title as Lord’s of Hammertooth.

Every campaign gets an Adventure Log, a blog for your adventures!

While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.
